‘…then we will take action’, MEA responded to the video on PM Modi’s political career

In the age of social media, it cannot be predicted when old things will become a headache. An old video of US President Donald Trump has started going viral again, after which India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has taken a tough stance. In this video, Trump had made a very strange and funny comment about his relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his political career. Now the Government of India has made it clear that appropriate steps will be taken after investigating this matter.

Actually, the video which is going viral on social media is from October 2025. When Donald Trump said in his familiar witty style during a press conference at the White House, ‘Modi is a great person. He loves Trump… Now I don’t want you to get any other meaning of the word love. Actually, I don’t want to ruin my political career.

This statement of Donald Trump was in discussion at that time also, but now after the recent trade deal between India and America, it is being shared again on social media.

What did the Foreign Ministry say?

When External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal was asked about the video during the weekly press briefing on Thursday, he responded with diplomatic seriousness. He said, ‘I have not seen this video yet, but if any such objectionable or misleading video is being spread, we will definitely take appropriate action on it.’

When is the Trump video from?

This comment came at a time when there was a rift between India and the US over purchasing oil from Russia. At that time, the Trump administration had imposed heavy tariffs on Indian goods for purchasing Russian oil. On October 15, 2025, Trump claimed that PM Modi had assured him that India would not buy oil from Russia, which India promoted as a major step.
