Asian Shooting Championships 2026: Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar won gold medal, made a world record with a brilliant performance in 50m rifle.
Delhi. Two-time Olympian Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar performed brilliantly and created a new world record by winning the gold medal in the men’s 50m rifle three positions event at the Asian Shooting Championships 2026 on Thursday. Competing at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range here today, the 25-year-old Indian shooter defended his title with a total of 362.0 in the final after kneeling, prone and standing rounds. Overall, this is Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar’s fifth individual shooting medal at the Asian Championships.
Earlier, he had won bronze in Doha 2019, gold in Changwon 2023, silver in Jakarta 2024 and gold in Shymkent 2025. India also made a clean sweep in the men’s 50m rifle three positions event, with Neeraj Kumar winning silver with a score of 361.8 and Akhil Sheoran winning bronze with a score of 343.5.
Earlier, the trio of Neeraj, Aishwarya and Akhil scored a total of 1769-106 in the qualification round to give India the team gold. Japan finished second with 1754–86, while Kazakhstan took the bronze medal with 1748–87. Neeraj topped qualifying with 593-34, followed by Rudranksh Patil (591-33), who competed for Ranking Points Only (RPO).
Aishwarya (588-40) finished third in qualification and Akhil (588-32) finished fourth. Nikhil Tanwar, shooting for RPO, finished sixth with 587-29. With the medals won today, India’s total medal tally in the championship has reached 26. India has won 10 gold, nine silver and seven bronze medals.
