What did Abhinay Baird and Renuka Shahane say about ‘Uttar’, the story of the tender relationship between mother and Leka, special things in the movie?
Uttar is a tender and emotional story depicting the journey of a mother-son relationship, where the audience feels the confluence of technology (AI) and human relationships. Abhinaya’s role in this film was remarkable. About the character Ninad in the film, actor Abhinay Berde said, “I think the writer-director has created the character’s journey and his mindset in a very realistic way. The Gen Z generation is coming up now, entering the workforce and becoming a big factor in the economy. So all the issues that generation faces, their pros and cons, had to be in the script and the film. In the process, I also had to rediscover my understanding of that generation. When I first heard the story, I never thought that I would do a film like ‘Uttar’. I wanted to do a different kind of film, but it was a completely new approach for me and that’s what made me want to be a part of this film.
I didn’t realize while shooting that the film would be so quiet that the frames would be so still and the film would be given room to ‘breathe’. I only realized this when I saw the final cut. I knew my character’s state of mind and what he was going through emotionally, so I was just working from that point of view. My co-stars helped a lot to bear the emotional burden. Patience is in my nature; I am also very moderate in my own life. I express myself only when necessary. The emotional burden from the character’s past was similar to some of my life experiences. My childhood was not very easy. My father had passed away and I spent most of my childhood in a hostel. I had stored some experiences for a long time, and I never thought that those experiences would help my acting. The director and cinematographer (DOP) knew the importance of silence during the shoot, but I was just experiencing it.”
Why did Bhumi Pednekar refuse a film with a budget of 300 crores? The actress herself told the real reason
Talking about the role of mother, actress Renuka Shahane has presented her different perspective. About the character, she said, “I already knew that the subject and the way it was presented would strike a chord with a lot of people and it did. It wasn’t much of a surprise. But I was amazed by the emotional connection the audience created with the story. I loved that people were going to watch the film again and again, that’s the kind of audience we dream of. A lot of people wanted to see it in theaters but couldn’t, and now it’s showing on ZEE5, so I’m really excited. “Word of mouth took off. It was great, but it was really a buzz in people’s WhatsApp groups, and some of my family members sent me messages. It was very emotional and overwhelming.” Soon Answer will be released on Zee 5 and this story of mother and son relationship will unfold.
