Supreme Court Reprimands Jairam Ramesh: ‘We know the conspiracy…be prepared to pay a heavy price’, CJI Surya Kant’s bench reprimands Congress MP Jairam Ramesh on this petition.

New Delhi. Congress Rajya Sabha MP Jairam Ramesh was reprimanded by the Supreme Court on Thursday. The Supreme Court bench adopted a strict stance while hearing the environmental petition filed by Jairam Ramesh. While rejecting the petition of Jairam Ramesh, the bench of CJI Surya Kant also said that he should be prepared to pay a heavy price for this. CJI Surya Kant’s bench told the Congress MP’s lawyer that we know the conspiracy behind this. Seeing the harsh attitude of the CJI bench, Jairam Ramesh’s lawyer withdrew the petition.

As soon as the CJI saw the petition, he clearly refused to hear it. He asked sharp questions to Jairam Ramesh’s lawyer. Jairam Ramesh had filed a petition regarding ex post facto environment clearance i.e. approval given later to some projects. The bench of CJI Surya Kant and Justice Jaimalya Bagchi asked the Congress MP’s lawyer that when the Supreme Court has approved such office memorandum in the Vanashakti Review Judgment, how can a writ petition be filed? Expressing displeasure, the Supreme Court bench also warned of imposing a heavy fine on Jairam Ramesh. The bench said that you are a responsible leader. If this is proven wrong, be prepared to pay a heavy price.

After this the bench also talked about conspiracy. The Supreme Court bench said that the office memorandum of environmental clearance is to implement the decision of the Supreme Court. Therefore this decision has been challenged. The CJI bench said that this is only for the media. Can anyone challenge the decision of the Supreme Court through a writ petition? The court said that only a review petition can be filed against a decision. When the Supreme Court warned of imposing heavy fine, Congress MP Jairam Ramesh’s lawyer withdrew the petition.
