Lyricist Anuradha Podwal came out in support of Oscar winner AR Rahman, called the music composer a saint.

Mumbai Well-known singer Anuradha Paudwal has given her opinion on the recent controversy regarding the communal comment of music composer AR Rahman. Singer Anuradha Paudwal supported the Oscar winning composer. She told that I know AR Rahman through his music. I never met him personally, but his music shows that he is a very saintly man. In response to media reports about Rehman’s communal comments, Paudwal described how media questions are reworded in a way that elicits provocative responses. She said that I have been in the industry and I have seen that when any artiste sits for an interview, the interviewer usually likes to frame the questions in such a way that they get the desired answers.

Media channel people do not like direct interviews. Because they want something else. In front of Nazar, the singer said that Rahman has given countless tracks to the music industry. He said that AR Rahman has given us the best marks and he is ahead of them all. He has achieved a lot. He is not at that stage where anyone can influence his career. As a senior artiste, I feel that he has done wonders with his songs. Paudwal’s reaction comes after the controversy that started after Rahman said in an interview to BBC Asian Network that it has become slow for him to get work in the Hindi film industry in recent years and he linked this to the changes that have happened in the industry in the last eight years. Following that interview, fans and celebrities, including Kangana Ranaut, Paresh Rawal, Ranveer Shorey, Subhash Ghai and Shobha De, had protested.
