Prime Minister Modi congratulated Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader Tariq Rahman on winning the elections.
New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed happiness over the excellent performance of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in the 13th parliamentary elections of Bangladesh. He has congratulated BNP President Tariq Rahman for this victory. The Prime Minister shared congratulatory messages in Bengali and English on his X handle this morning.
Prime Minister Modi wrote, “I heartily congratulate Shri Tariq Rahman for giving a decisive victory to BNP in the parliamentary elections held in Bangladesh. This result is a reflection of the confidence of the people of Bangladesh in your leadership. India will continue its support for a democratic, progressive and inclusive Bangladesh.
“I look forward to working with you to further strengthen our multifaceted relations and advance our shared development goals,” he wrote.
BNP leader Tariq Rehman is the son of former President Zia-ur-Rehman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. After nearly 17 years in exile, Tariq, his wife Zubaida Rehman and daughter returned to Bangladesh from London on December 25 last year.
