Party leaders keep an eye on Chennai

In fact, most of the senior leaders of Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam want to contest the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections 2027 from the assembly seats of the capital Chennai and its surrounding districts. Party President Vijay’s name is also included in the list of those contesting elections on seats around Chennai.

From where can Vijay contest elections?

Giving information, TVK leaders have said that Thalapathy Vijay has shortlisted five assembly seats to contest the elections. These seats include Velachery and Virugambakkam of Chennai. Apart from this, the party will field its strong candidates in Vikravandi, Nagapattinam and Trichy East assembly seats. According to TVK, the party president can contest elections from two seats. He can try his electoral luck from Velachery and Virugambakkam assembly seats in Chennai. Now the discussion about Vijay contesting elections from two seats has started happening in the entire state along with the party.

According to a senior TVK leader, if this happens then Trichy East can also be contested. He said that Trichy Assembly is better for his party and Vijay can win the elections from here. Explaining the reason behind this, he said that the population of minority community is considerable in Trichy East Assembly. On the other hand, the senior leadership of TVK wants the party to try its luck in the entire state in its first assembly elections, but after the passage of time and an internal survey, the party leaders have changed their mind.

What came in TVK’s internal survey?

Actually, TVK’s internal survey has revealed that Chennai can be a profitable zone for the party. Party sources claim that the survey has shown that TVK can get 25 to 30 percent vote share in at least 10 to 12 assembly constituencies of Chennai city. In such a situation, if a different party capitalizes on the face of victory and the issue of development, then the TVK candidate can also win. A party leader has claimed that this figure may cross 40% as the elections approach and campaign activities intensify.

Party’s eye on these seats

According to party sources, TVK Party’s Election Campaign Management General Secretary Aadhav Arjun can contest from Tiruvallur Assembly, Joint General Secretary CT R Nirmal Kumar can contest from Usilampatti or Perambur Assembly.

Apart from this, many other big leaders of the party are talking about contesting elections from their home districts instead of Chennai. Party’s propaganda secretary Arun Raj is set to contest from Tiruchengode assembly seat in Namakkal district, while general secretary N Anand is likely to contest from Cuddalore assembly seat near the Puducherry border.

However, this is just talk going on inside the party. Which leaders will contest from which seat will be known only after official information.
