Which record has Zimbabwe made against Australia, which is being discussed?

Zimbabwe has created a stir by defeating Australia in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. In this Group-B match played at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Zimbabwe defeated the Kangaroos by 23 runs, which is the biggest upset of the current tournament. Zimbabwe had given Australia a target of 170 runs when invited to bat first, in response to which the Kangaroo team was reduced to 146 runs in 19.3 overs.

The hero of Zimbabwe’s victory was Blessing Muzarabani. This 6 feet 8 inches tall bowler took 4 wickets for 17 runs in 4 overs and tied the knot for Australia. Muzarabani had spoiled Australia’s start by walking hitters like Josh Inglis and Tim David in the powerplay.

After this he took the wickets of Matt Renshaw (65) and Adam Zampa in the 19th over. Muzarabani got good support from Brad Evans. Evans gave away 23 runs in 3.3 overs and took the wickets of Travis Head, Cameron Green and Ben Dwarshius.

Zimbabwe made this record

Zimbabwe has defeated Australia for the second time in the T20 World Cup. Earlier in 2007, this African team had defeated the Kangaroos by 5 wickets. Interestingly, there have been only two matches between Zimbabwe and Australia in the T20 World Cup and the Zimbabwean team has won both times. In such a situation, it has become the only team in the world to have a 100% win record against Australia.

Has also lost in the World Cup

Zimbabwe team has also defeated Australia in ODI World Cup. In the 1983 ODI World Cup, the team captained by Duncan Fletcher defeated Australia by 13 runs. If seen in this way, Zimbabwe team has defeated Australia thrice in the World Cup.
