Patna: Bihar government has taken a big decision regarding maternity leave for women teachers. Education Minister Sunil Kumar announced in the Legislative Council on Friday that now Child Care Leave (CCL) will be available in schools for 730 days. For this, the department has prepared the complete Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). Its formal order will be issued within the next 15 days. This step has been taken to increase the rights and facilities of women teachers.

Salary will be given every month during maternity leave

Earlier, women teachers were given a lump sum salary when they returned to school after maternity leave. In the new system, payment of salary every month has now been ensured. The Education Minister said that a separate SOP was issued in this regard three months ago. This will provide relief to teachers from financial inconvenience. The aim of the government is to provide timely salary and facilities to women employees.

Suggestion for posting of women teachers in home district

Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Rabri Devi raised the issue of transfer of women teachers to remote districts. He suggested that women teachers should be posted in their home district only. This will help in maintaining family and social balance. The Education Minister considered this suggestion positive and said that the department will consider it.

Strictness on irregularities in bench-desk purchases

The Education Minister also took a strict stance on irregularities in the purchase of bench-desks. He said that the officers who have not deposited the AC-DC bills are being identified. An FIR will be registered against the culprits and legal action will be taken. If embezzlement is confirmed in the audit then FIR will also be registered. Apart from this, AC-DC bills will be reviewed every week. The government is committed to ensuring transparency and accountability.

New supply process will increase transparency

Now the supply of bench-desks will not be done through the District Education Officer (DEO). The Education Department has issued an order in this regard. The new system will make the procurement process more transparent and responsible. Monitoring and control has also been strengthened at the departmental level.

The Education Minister said that through the new SOP, women teachers will get clear guidelines and facilities. Clear guidelines have also been issued for the management of holidays. This will provide relief to teachers from financial and social inconvenience. The aim of the government is that women workers should get facilities and rights on time.
