Billed as a more premium and aspirational alternative to traditional auto rickshaws, the name Udo is derived from the Hindi word “to fly” and its design is inspired by planes. The company calls it “autoplane”. It featured styling features such as bold headlights, sculpted mirrors and a large panoramic windshield. These features give it a more commanding presence on the road than conventional three-wheelers.
Design
The biggest feature of Udo is its full monocoque structure, which is seen for the first time in this segment.
shock less
The company claims that, due to the design, it not only increases the strength of the vehicle, but also reduces shocks while driving on the road.
interior
In the interior, Mahindra has given priority to ergonomics. The driver gets a special seat, called the “Pilot Seat” by the company, which is said to be about 20 percent thicker than normal seats in this category. Passengers benefit from better headspace and legroom, as the layout is designed to give a comfortable lounge-like feel.
Range
The Udo is powered by an IP67 rated 11.7 kWh lithium-ion battery, paired with a PMS motor. This motor produces 13.6bhp (10kW) power and 52 Nm torque. Mahindra claims an actual range of 200 km, while the ARAI certified range is 265 km. If these figures are consistently achieved, it will be among the cars with the highest range in this segment.
