Bangladesh’s mood changed before the oath, coronation of Tariq Rahman fixed, political stir echoed in the neighborhood
After the general elections held in Dhaka Bangladesh It is almost certain that Nationalist Party (BNP) President Tariq Rahman will become the Prime Minister (Tarique Rahman PM Oath). After BNP’s landslide victory, party sources say that the swearing-in ceremony may be held on February 14. Tariq Rehman’s advisor Syed Moazzam Hussain Alala said that the party has got a clear majority and preparations for the formation of the new government are going on at a fast pace.
Reactions have also emerged from India on BNP’s victory. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Tariq Rehman for his election success and said that this victory shows the trust of the public. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge have also congratulated BNP on this historic victory.
Mallikarjun Kharge wrote on social media platform X that on behalf of Congress, he congratulates Tariq Rehman and BNP on winning the parliamentary elections. While congratulating the people of Bangladesh in her message, Mamata Banerjee said that she wants the relations between India and Bangladesh to always remain cordial.
Shock to anti-India faces
In this election, Maulana Mammunal Haq, known for his anti-India statements, had to face a crushing defeat (Tarique Rahman PM Oath). Mammunal Haq, who was contesting as Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis candidate from Dhaka-13 seat, was defeated by BNP’s Bobby Hajaj. This is also being considered an important political signal from the point of view of India.
Political analysts believe that the defeat of Jamaat-e-Islami and the victory of BNP are considered positive for India. Jamaat is traditionally considered a pro-Pakistan party, while BNP is expected to have a pragmatic and balanced relationship with India.
Jamaat dissatisfied with the results
Jamaat-e-Islami has expressed dissatisfaction regarding the election results. The party issued a statement on its official Facebook page saying that the voting was peaceful, but it is not satisfied with the process of declaring the results. However, the Jamaat has also expressed gratitude to the voters who participated in the voting.
Voting percentage and security arrangements
According to Dhaka Tribune, 59.44 percent voting was recorded in the 13th national parliamentary election (Tarique Rahman PM Oath). Even after the results, security agencies in Bangladesh are on high alert. Police deployment has been increased at major intersections of the capital Dhaka and constant patrolling is being done to deal with any untoward situation.
