Rajya Sabha MPs corner the government in Parliament over deaths due to open and unsafe pits
Lalganj, Pratapgarh. Deputy Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Pramod Tiwari has raised the issue of frequent tragic deaths of youth due to open and unsafe pits in various cities of the country in the Parliament session. He has also stressed on ensuring immediate strict action against the negligent officers and agencies responsible for these deaths. MP Pramod Tiwari said that due to negligence in the name of construction works, pits have been dug in the open by the agencies.
At such places, neither verification is done by the responsible agencies nor lighting arrangements or caution boards are being installed. For example, MP Pramod Tiwari said that on February 5, a young man riding a bike died tragically in an unsafe pit dug by Delhi Jal Board. Similarly, he told the government that in Greater Noida too, a youth fell into the pit along with his car due to water in it. MP Pramod Tiwari said that the worrying aspect of this accident was that relief and rescue operations could not be done properly.
Through his question, he took a dig at the government that amidst tall claims of development, it was ignoring the basic security of the citizens. MP Pramod Tiwari asked the government to make serious arrangements to stop these accidents and give appropriate compensation to the families of the victims. Meanwhile, MP Pramod Tiwari has stressed on the government ensuring strict and strong standards for the construction works taking place across the country.
