June ration card will be closed? Smart Ration Card with QR code will come soon in the state; Approval of expenditure of Rs.48 crores
Smart Ration Card: There will be a big change in the food and civil supply system for the citizens of the state and Maharashtra government has given administrative approval to distribute smart ration card with QR code.
These new smart ration cards will be given to the beneficiaries of the National Food Security Scheme as well as the Shetkar Yojana. An expenditure of around Rs 48 crore has been sanctioned for this ambitious project.
The paper ration cards currently in use get damaged or torn within a few years. Due to increasing complaints of frequent loss, creation of fake ration cards or misuse, the government has opted for a safer and more sustainable option using technology.
The new smart ration cards will have a QR code, which will make it easier to accurately identify the beneficiaries. The information of the beneficiary can be checked immediately by scanning the QR code in the ration shop. This will increase transparency and help prevent benefits going to ineligible beneficiaries.
The proposal was approved in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Also, the final decision was announced after giving the green light to the project by the high-powered committee headed by the Chief Secretary.
Necessary funds have been made available for the implementation of the Smart Ration Project and the entire process will be implemented in a transparent manner.
The procurement process for preparation and distribution of these ration cards will be done through Mahaonline e-tendering system.
This will ensure transparency and competitiveness in the tender process. This decision of the government is expected to improve the ration distribution system and provide more convenient and safe services to the beneficiaries.
The administration has expressed the belief that lakhs of beneficiaries in the state will benefit from this decision and implementation of food security schemes will be more effective.
