Tezzbuzz Desk- In the group match of T20 World Cup 2026, the Indian team defeated Namibia by 93 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Thursday. Batting first, India scored 209 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs with the help of strong half-centuries from Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya. In reply, Namibia was all out for 116 runs in 18.2 overs. With this victory, India has secured the top position in the points table of Group A.
For this match, two changes were made in the playing-11 of the Indian team. Opener Abhishek Sharma and fast bowler Mohammed Siraj were left out, while Jasprit Bumrah and Sanju Samson returned. Team captain Suryakumar Yadav told that Abhishek Sharma is recovering from stomach problem and hence may remain out for one or two matches. Abhishek was suffering from stomach infection for the last few days and was also admitted to the hospital. Although he has been discharged and was seen with the team in the stadium, he is not fully fit yet.
Experts say that Abhishek’s ability to play the match against Pakistan in Colombo on Sunday will depend on his practice session. If he is able to bat normally for a long time in the nets, it will be considered a sign of his fitness. During last year’s net sessions, Abhishek practiced for up to three hours at times, which included 75-90 minutes of continuous batting.
India has registered two consecutive wins in the tournament so far. Earlier, the team had made a great start by defeating America in its first match. Now the eyes of the Indian team are on the high-pressure match against Pakistan to be held in Colombo on Sunday (15 February).
