Ted Lasso Season 4: Release timeline, cast updates and plot details – Everything you need to know

Ted Lasso has an extensive audience waiting patiently each week for new episodes on global OTT platforms and is expected to be one of the most-streamed comedies currently available. With its inspirational story of personal development, team spirit, and unique British culture related to football, as told by Ted Lasso and his friends at AFC Richmond, it is not surprising that fans cannot wait for Season 4 to arrive with even more chaotic adventures, emotional connections, intercontinental connections, and a healthy dose of humour inspired by Ted’s down-to-earth story-telling. Launching this summer on Apple TV+, the fourth season will find Ted returning to Richmond once again to face probably his toughest challenge yet – coaching a professional women’s football team in the lower division.

Apple confirmed Ted Lasso’s Season 4 debut will be sometime between June and August of 2026. No tentative start date was revealed; however, industry sources say Apple hopes to announce a more detailed timeframe in advance of the Spring 2026 public relations campaign for the Season 4 marketing program.

Ted Lasso was officially greenlit for Season 4 on March 1, 2025, with filming starting on July 28, 2025. Production occurred in locations throughout the UK and the US, including London and Kansas City. Apple released the first batch of photos and an update to confirm the production in January 2026, supporting the summer release schedule. The new season of Ted Lasso will officially return approximately three years after the close of the third season at the end of 2023.

Ted Lasso Season 4 Expected Cast

Jason Sudeikis reprises his role as Ted Lasso and continues to be an executive producer. The core cast will return – Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca Welton; Juno Temple as Keeley Jones; Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent; Brendan Hunt as Coach Beard; Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins.

The fourth season is expected to expand the show’s world with new cast members, including confirmed additions of Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsey, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, and Grant Feely. There is some indication from preview images of more focus on Ted’s family life in addition to new dynamics in coaching, but Apple has yet to provide detailed character information regarding all the new cast members.

None of the prior supporting characters are officially confirmed right now, but the core cast continues to receive the majority of focus, along with some of the new cast members.

Ted Lasso Season 4 Potential Plot

An official summary of Apple TV+’s new show indicates a major change in direction for this series. The fourth season of the show features Ted returning to Richmond to face, as described, his greatest challenge yet as he coaches a women’s second-tier football team. This is a significant departure from the men’s AFC Richmond storylines from the previous three seasons.

Additionally, this season may also include themes around women’s football, new team relationships, and new challenges both professionally and personally for all involved, while still including the signature styles of humour, empathy, and optimism. Ted’s return to Richmond may also allow for continuous storylines with Rebecca, Roy, Keeley, and others connected to the club.

No episode details have been released at this time, but preliminary materials show that Season 4 is likely to continue the emotional development of the characters while providing instances of reinventing those characters.
