Rear styling
At the rear, the Magester gets connected LED taillamps, unlike the standalone units in the Gloucester. The MG badge has been replaced with the lettering “Morris Garages”. Additional cladding has been given on the bumper and dual exhaust tips have been given instead of the Gloster’s quad exhaust. Both the SUVs share the same wheelbase.
Side profile
While the overall design is familiar in the side profile, the Magester gets newly designed 19-inch alloy wheels. It also gets a black finish on the wheel arches and sills, which accentuates its strong and rugged look.
Interior and features
Inside, the Magester gets a new cabin layout with a single-tone black theme and silver highlights, which contrasts with the Gloucester’s black-brown finish. It features a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster. Grab handles have been provided on the A-pillar and center console and the gear lever has been shifted to the steering column. Both 6 and 7-seater seating options are available.
Engine and Performance
The Magester retains the 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine from the Gloucester, but has received further refinements. This engine produces 215 horsepower and 478 Nm of torque. It is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox with both 4×2 and 4×4 drive options available. On the other hand, the Gloucester also gets a lower specification 2.0 liter turbo-diesel option that produces 161 horsepower and 374 Nm of torque.
