Sometimes Tej, sometimes Nishant, sometimes in trouble with CM, what is the story of former IPS Amitabh Das?

Police raided the house of former IPS officer Amitabh Das late night on Friday. His house is Patna Skies Apartment near Patliputra Colony. Many police personnel reached there and started raiding the house. Amitabh Das’s health suddenly deteriorated during the raid, after which he was admitted to Ruban Hospital.

During the raid, police seized Amitabh Das’s phone, tab and letter containing Ashoka Pillar. A few days ago, Amitabh Das had asked some questions related to the rape and murder of a NEET student in Shambhu Girls Hostel. He is accused of posting misleading and provocative posts. Police from 3 police stations together raided his house. Amitabh Das has alleged that attempts are being made to kill him.

Why was Amitabh Das’s house raided?

This action has been taken after an FIR against Amitabh Das. Amitabh Das has been accused of posting misleading and inflammatory content on social media platforms in connection with the suspicious death of an 18-year-old medical candidate from Jehanabad. The deceased student was living in a girls hostel in Patna. Amitabh Das had openly demanded DNA testing in this case. Police said the raid and seizure were due to inflammatory online content related to a sensitive issue.

What was said that got you into such a bad situation?

On the death of a NEET student, Amitabh Das had said that in this case, DNA test of CM Nitish Kumar’s son Nishant Kumar should be done. He had asked for DNA samples of the people living in the CM residence. His statement was heavily criticized. Jan Shakti Janata Dal chief Tej Pratap Yadav had said that whatever he says, he should have been arrested earlier.

What has Patna Police said?

Patna SSP Karthikeya K Sharma said that Amitabh Das’s house was searched after he complained of being ill. He was not arrested or detained. Search was conducted for his defamatory statements on different social platforms. This was also against POCSO rules. During the search, electronic devices and some letter pads were seized.

Is this the NEET case, about which Amitabh Das was speaking?

There was a suspicious death of a NEET student in Patna. Now CBI is investigating this case. The student was a resident of Jehanabad and was preparing for NEET exam. The student was found unconscious in a women’s hostel located in Chitragupta Nagar, Patna on January 6. Later she went into coma and died 5 days later in a private hospital. Due to the political uproar after the student’s death, the Bihar government handed over the case to CBI on January 31. The family members have alleged that the victim was sexually assaulted. The victim’s family has also accused the authorities of trying to suppress the case. Amitabh Das is cornering the government regarding this.

Who is retired IPS Amitabh Das?

Amitabh Das is among those officers who have been forcibly retired. He is an IPS of the year 1994 batch. His last post was Police Superintendent cum Assistant Civil Defense Commissioner. He had accused the government of politically motivated retirement. Amitabh Das has also been accused of sexually exploiting a woman, due to which he remained stuck in legal trouble for 10 years. In the year 2016, he got relief from the Supreme Court. In the year 2018, he was given forced retirement.

What is Amitabh Das’s problem?

Amitabh Das is often in the news due to his controversial statements. Ever since he retired, he is very active on YouTube. He has been vocal on political and social issues. Amitabh, an officer of Bihar cadre, surrounds the government on every issue. Amitabh Das has made serious allegations from Tej Pratap Yadav to Nishant Kumar. In a case of 2006, a woman had accused him of sexual exploitation, false promise of marriage and molestation for 8-9 years. Investigation was done and he got a clean chit.

Amitabh Das had alleged that BJP leaders had links with Ranveer Sena. He had also accused him of colluding with Naxalites. He used to speak a lot against his own department, after which the government declared him ineligible and retired him. Now he has also been accused of illegal use of the government insignia and IPS designation. He has been stuck in legal troubles many times.
