Ranji Trophy semi-finals: Teams practiced vigorously in Ekana, Karnataka-Uttarakhand will face each other
Lucknow, Amrit Thoughts: The city’s Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium is once again ready to witness a big match of domestic cricket. From February 15, a match will be played here in the semi-finals of Ranji Trophy between the legendary Karnataka and the Uttarakhand team which has reached the last four for the first time. Before the match, on Friday, both the teams practiced extensively at the B ground of Ekana.
This time the Karnataka team is adorned with experience and international stars. In the practice session, fast bowler Prasidh Krishna bowled long spells, while aggressive batsman Karun Nair and young batsman Devdutt Padikkal worked hard in the nets. According to the team management, KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal are also likely to join the practice session, which will further strengthen the team’s batting. Karnataka has entered the semi-finals after defeating strong Mumbai in the quarter-finals, due to which its confidence is at its peak.
On the other hand, Uttarakhand, after a stellar performance in the Elite C Group, has created history by winning by an innings and six runs in the quarter-finals. The Uttarakhand team adorned with young players is ready to face the strong batting of Karnataka and the speed of Prasidh Krishna on the basis of patience and teamwork. There is a lot of excitement among cricket lovers about the match. A tough competition is expected between the star-studded experienced team of Karnataka and the enthusiastic Uttarakhand.
With Uttarakhand’s victory, Lucknow may get to host the final.
If Uttarakhand is successful in defeating Karnataka in the semi-finals then Ekana Stadium can host the final of Ranji Trophy. The second semi-final of the tournament is being played between West Bengal and Jammu and Kashmir in Kalyani (West Bengal). Under the rules, the winning team of that match will have to play the final on the home ground of Uttarakhand. Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun has been declared unfit due to pitch related reasons. In such a situation, BCCI has decided Lucknow as the alternative home ground of Uttarakhand. If Uttarakhand reaches the final, then Lucknow may be seen hosting the Ranji Trophy title match for the second time. Now all eyes are on the performance of Uttarakhand in the semi-finals.
