But now there is news that the title of the film may change. While talking to news agency ANI, Sunny Deol said that he has many upcoming films, one of which is ‘Lahore 1947’. He told, ‘Maybe its title may change or it may remain the same. This film is based on a very famous drama and will be released in theaters around August 15. So the question is, on which drama is this film based?

What is this Punjabi drama?

Actually, ‘Lahore 1947’ is based on the Punjabi play ‘Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya Ae Nai’ written by famous writer and professor Asghar Wajahat. The meaning of this play is ‘One who has not seen Lahore, has not truly lived life’. This drama came in 1989 and tells the story of the time of Partition of India. The story revolves around a Muslim family who moves from Lucknow to Lahore and finds a mansion which previously belonged to a Hindu family. But after reaching there they come to know that the Hindu family is still there and not ready to go. In this way a deep story of humanity, co-existence and emotions is shown.

The special thing about this film is that late star Dharmendra loved this script very much. Aamir Khan himself had told that this was one of Dharamji’s favorite scripts. Talking about the actors in the film, Sunny Deol is in the lead role. Apart from this, big names like Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta and Karan Deol are going to be seen. Music is given by AR Rahman, and songs are written by Javed Akhtar. Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi were working on this project for a long time, and now it is finally getting ready.

Sunny Deol’s ‘Lahore 1947’ is releasing on 13th August, and at the same time Salman Khan’s film ‘Battle of Galwan’ is also preparing to release. According to some reports, ‘Battle of Galwan’ was earlier scheduled to come in April 2026, but now it is being shifted to August 2026, probably 14th August.
