Big relief in fraud case, Vikram Bhatt and wife get bail from Supreme Court, released from jail after two months

New Delhi. This entire matter is related to the complaint of Dr. Ajay Murdia, founder of Indira Group of Companies and Indira IVF Hospital. Dr. Murdia had alleged that Vikram Bhatt and his associates offered to make a biopic on his late wife and took around Rs 30 crore in return. According to the allegation, he was assured that this film could do business up to Rs 200 crore (film worth Rs 200 crore). But even after the stipulated time, neither the shooting of the film started nor any solid project came forward.

The complaint also said that after receiving the money the director stopped contacting him. Phone calls and messages went unanswered, further deepening suspicions. After this the matter reached the police and investigation started. Udaipur court sent both of them on seven-day police remand on 9 December 2025. After the remand period ended, he was sent to Udaipur Central Jail.

While in jail, a bail petition was filed on behalf of Vikram Bhatt citing health reasons. However, Rajasthan High Court refused to grant bail after hearing the arguments of both the parties. After this the matter reached the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi ordered the bail after the hearing. The court directed the Chief Judicial Magistrate to pass the bail order with conditions. Besides, a reply has also been sought from the Rajasthan government and the complainant. The next hearing has been fixed for February 19.

Amidst this legal dispute, another complaint came to light in January. In a case registered at Mumbai’s Versova police station, a businessman alleged that Vikram Bhatt and his daughter Krishna Bhatt Saradha defrauded him of Rs 13.5 crore. The investigation of this case has been handed over to the Economic Offenses Wing.

  • At present, the bail granted by the Supreme Court has definitely given temporary relief to Vikram Bhatt and his family but the matter is not completely over yet. The further hearing in the court and the direction of the investigation will decide how solid the allegations are and what will be the ultimate outcome of this dispute. This matter is likely to remain in discussion in the Bollywood world for a long time.
