Approval of third railway line in UP, good news for these districts!

News Desk. The eastern part of Uttar Pradesh has got a big relief in the field of rail connectivity. The Railway Ministry has approved the laying of the third railway line on the Aundhihar-Varanasi (31.36 km) section under the Varanasi Division of North Eastern Railway. About Rs 497.07 crore has been sanctioned for this project. This project will directly benefit Varanasi and Ghazipur districts and will significantly increase the rail capacity of the entire Purvanchal.

Doubling work already underway

The work of doubling on this railway line between Bhatni and Aundhihar is progressing rapidly. Work of about 89.47 km including Kediharapur-Indara, Sadat-Aundrihar, Bhatni-Pivkol, Belthara Road-Keediharapur, Dullahapur-Sadat and Mau-Dullahpur has been completed.

Work on the Pivkol to Belthara Road (27.53 km) section is in the final stages, which also includes construction of Turtipar rail bridge over Saryu river. It is expected that the doubling work will be completed by December. Electrification and doubling of the entire Bhatni – Aundhihar section is being done at a cost of approximately Rs 1177.96 crore.

Rail line capacity will increase

With the laying of the third line, the movement of trains on the Gorakhpur-Varanasi-Prayagraj railway line will become easier. According to the increasing demand of passengers, more trains can be run. Aundhihar Junction, which is an important station of North Eastern Railway, trains operate from here to many major cities across the country including Mau, Gorakhpur, Ballia, Azamgarh, Ghazipur, Prayagraj, Lucknow, Kanpur. The construction of the third line will strengthen this entire network.

Not only this, better rail connectivity will also boost trade, industry, tourism and cultural activities in the area. Besides, electrification will also have a positive impact on environmental protection. Many districts of the state will directly benefit from this.
