New Delhi: It was an exhibition of tremendous power-hitting by Ireland batters that powered them to the highest-total of the T20 World Cup 2026 and the second-highest across all editions. Put into bat first, skipper Lorcan Tucker led from the front with a 51-ball 94-run unbeaten score to power his side to a record total of 235 for against Oman in Colombo.
Tucker unleashed his best to smash 10 boundaries and 4 massive sixes, stitching a massive stand with Gareth Delany, who scored 56 off 30 balls. If this wasn’t enough, George Dockrell, who came out to bat after the dismissal of Delany, smashed 35 runs off just 9 balls with the help of 5 massive sixes to help the side post a record-breaking score in the first innings.

Irish batters wreck havoc
Oman bowlers had done pretty well to put Ireland in a spot of bother at 64 for 4 but that’s when the carnage began with Tucker and Delany’s massive stand of 99 runs. After the Delany’s departure in the 17th over, Dockrell came into play and he along with the captain added 70 more runs in the next three overs.
