The 22nd match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 was played between Ireland and Oman. In this Group-B match held at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo, Ireland has won by 96 runs, which is the second biggest win in terms of runs in the current tournament. Just two days ago on Thursday, Sri Lanka had defeated Oman by 105 runs. Oman team has become the first team to be eliminated from the tournament.
Ireland was invited to bat first in the match. He lost the wickets of top-3 batsmen inside the powerplay itself. Tim Tector (5), Ross Adair (14) and Harry Tector (14) had returned to the pavilion. From here, captain Lorcan Tucker took the lead and played an unbeaten inning of 94 runs in 51 balls, taking Ireland to a huge score of 235/5, in response to which Oman’s team was reduced to 139 in 18 overs.

Delaney-Dockerll also committed suicide
Lorcan Tucker, who was leading the Irish team after Paul Stirling was out of the tournament, made a 101-run partnership with Gareth Delany for the fifth wicket. Delaney scored 56 runs in 30 balls, which included 3 fours and 4 sixes. After his dismissal, George Dockrell and Tucker scored 70 runs in the remaining 19 balls. Dockrell returned unbeaten after scoring 35 runs in 9 balls. Dockrell hit 5 sixes during his explosive innings.
For Oman, only Shakeel Ahmed and Aamir Kaleem could bowl effectively. Shakeel took 2 wickets for 33 runs in 4 overs. Whereas Aamir gave 29 runs in 4 overs and took 1 wicket.

In the huge run chase, Aamir scored 50 runs in 29 balls with the help of 5 fours and 2 sixes but it was not enough to save Oman from a shameful defeat. Joshua Little, playing his first match in this T20 World Cup, bowled lethally and took 3 wickets for 16 runs in 4 overs. Matthew Humphries and Barry McCarthy got 2 successes each.
