Upcoming Hyundai Verna Facelift Imagined Digitally
Hyundai is known to be working on a facelift to the Verna. The update is expected to fix one major flaw of the sedan- its polarising design. It doesn’t look bad, but isn’t everyone’s cup of tea either. The update will bring notable changes to the design and will reportedly bring the overall styling closer to that of the Sonata sold abroad. Based on spy shots and information from rumours and reports, we have imagined the facelifted Verna digitally.
Verna Facelift Imagined
Spy shots shared by Autospy previously showed a partially camouflaged Verna facelift undergoing road trials. The front fascia, fenders and rear end were both concealed well. In these images, we have tried to imagine what the front and rear would look like. We have swapped the facelifted 8th generation Sonata’s front fascia into the Verna.
The 8th generation Sonata facelift was launched in 2025 and continues to be on sale in international markets. It boasts significant styling changes over the pre-facelift model. These cues have been carried over to the rendering here.
The Verna facelift in these images, gets a full-length LED light bar at the front. It runs along the width of the bonnet. On the new Verna, the designs of the front bumper and its air dam will also take inspiration from those of the Sonata. The headlamps will feature a more attractive design. The front end now looks cleaner and more matured than the current Verna.
The side profile resembles that of the outgoing Verna. The character lines remain unchanged, and so does the overall surfacing. The Verna’s 16-inch wheels have been retained as such.
On the production car, the rear end will also borrow some of its cues from the current Sonata. The tail lamp cluster will be redesigned. Even the outgoing Verna has a clean rear design. So, even minor changes can boost the overall visual appeal significantly.

These redesign will make the Verna even more attractive, likely translating to more sales in the future. The polarising nature of the current Verna’s design has been reflecting in its monthly sales numbers. In January 2026, for example, Hyundai sold just 823 units of the Verna, while rivals like the Slavia and Virtus sold around 2000 units. A better-looking facelift will give the Verna’s monthly numbers a boost.
Expected Changes Inside
Recent spy pictures and videos have also given us clues on what the new Verna’s cabin will look like. It will get a new steering wheel with the ‘Four dot’ logo (Morse code logo), similar to what we see on the new Venue and several other Hyundai models. The Turbo variant will get all-Black interiors with Red contrast stitching for seats, steering wheel cover and more.
It will also come with a large curvilinear display. The outgoing Verna has 10.25-inch displays as the central touchscreen and instrument cluster. On the new model, these will likely be replaced with larger 12.3-inch units. Interior trims and overall fit and finish are expected to improve on the new model. We may also see the addition of new features. Even now, the Verna is a tech-laden sedan. The facelift will likely make it better.
Expected Powertrain Changes

The outgoing Verna is available with two engine options- a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 115 PS and 143 Nm of torque and a 1.5L turbocharged engine making 160 PS and 253Nm. The former is available with manual and iVT transmissions while the latter can be had with manual and dry-clutch DCT transmission options. These will be carried over to the facelift.
Additionally, it will reportedly get a new strong hybrid petrol powertrain. Details of this are sparse at the moment. We expect this unit to use a 1.5L petrol engine as its base and will have a strong focus on fuel efficiency.
