Tariq Rahman’s first press conference after victory, said a big thing on India-Bangladesh relations
Tarique Rahman Press Conference : After the landslide victory in Bangladesh parliamentary elections, BNP chief Tariq Rahman held a press conference for the first time on Saturday. During this, Rahman openly talked about the country’s law and order, India-Bangladesh relations and SAARC issue. Rehman said, “A parliament and a government accountable to the people are being re-formed in the country through direct voting. To ensure that no evil force can bring back dictatorship in the country and to ensure that the country does not become a slave state, we have to remain united and support the will of the people.”

BNP Chairman Tariq Rahman said, “Our paths and opinions may differ, but in the interest of the country we must remain united. I firmly believe that the unity of the country is our collective strength, while division is our wish…” He added, “This is the victory of Bangladesh. This is the victory of democracy, and from today we are all free. I want to thank the people of Bangladesh. The fascist government and its illegal disregard for the Constitution and democratic principles are now over.” Our government will now ensure good law and order in the entire country… The trust shown by the people of Bangladesh shows that through this trust, we will work tirelessly for the development and progress of all Bangladeshis.
Regarding law and order in Bangladesh, Rahman said, “My message is clear: At any cost, law and order has to be maintained in Bangladesh. We will not tolerate any action that disrupts peace and security. Law and order will apply equally to all…” Asked about India-Bangladesh relations, the BNP chairman said, “We have made ourselves clear about the foreign policy, in which the interest of Bangladesh and the interest of the Bangladeshi people come first. Bangladesh And by protecting the interest of the people of Bangladesh, we will decide our foreign policy.”
Asked about restarting SAARC, BNP Chairman Tariq Rahman said, “SAARC was started by Bangladesh, so obviously we would like to restart SAARC. We will talk to our friends, once the government is decided, we will try to restart it.” When asked if he would try to bring Sheikh Hasina back from India, he said, “It of course depends on the legal process.”
