News India Live, Digital Desk: There is only some time left for Holi. Gulal available in the market with strong colors and chemicals can cause skin irritation, rashes and dryness. To make your skin ‘color-proof’, you should follow some special steps just before playing Holi.
Color protection: 5 important steps
Oil massage is ‘Kavach’: At least 20 minutes before playing Holi, massage the entire body thoroughly with coconut oil, almond oil or olive oil. Oil forms a protective layer on the skin, preventing the colors from penetrating into the skin.
Don’t forget sunscreen: Holi is often played under the open sky. The combination of colors and sunlight can tan the skin badly. Therefore, apply good quality waterproof sunscreen.
Use of petroleum jelly: Apply petroleum jelly (Vaseline) behind your ears, on the corners of your nails and on your lips. It is most difficult to remove the color from these areas, jelly will make it easier.
Nail Protection: To prevent your nails from turning yellow due to colours, apply dark colored nail paint on them. Apart from this, fill some Vaseline on the inner part of the nails.
Take care of hair: Colors stick to dry hair. Apply mustard or coconut oil thoroughly on hair and make a braid or tie a shoe. Do not play Holi with open hair.
How to avoid the disadvantages of chemical gulal?
Drink lots of water: Drink plenty of water to keep the skin hydrated from within. Colors have a worse effect on dehydrated skin.
Full Sleeve Dresses: Try to wear clothes that cover as much of the body as possible.
Special advice: What to do if there is a burning sensation?
If you feel itching or burning on the skin after applying color, immediately wash with cold water and apply aloe vera gel. If irritation increases, consult a doctor.
