PM Modi inaugurates country’s first emergency landing facility in Moran, launches projects worth over Rs 5,500 crore –
Tezzbuzz Desk- Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Moran on Saturday i.e. today on a day-long visit to Assam and inaugurated the country’s first Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) here. Along with this, various development projects worth more than Rs 5,500 crore were also started. PM Modi was welcomed at Chabua airfield by Laxman Prasad Acharya, Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma and other officials.
Prime Minister Modi visited the ELF located at Moran Bypass in Dibrugarh district in a C-130 aircraft of the Indian Air Force. This plane landed on the highway for the first time. Along with this, PM Modi also watched the air show of the Air Force for about 40 minutes, in which fighter planes, transport planes and helicopters showed different stunts.
The program started from Chabua Airfield, from where PM Modi reached Moran in a C-130 aircraft. ELF has been prepared on a 4.4 km long stretch of NH-127 at Moran Airstrip, which will facilitate emergency landing for military and civil aircraft.
During the program, first a Rafale and a Sukhoi-30 landed on the air strip. After this the Dornier aircraft of the Air Force took off. After this the C-130J aircraft landed. After this, Sukhoi and Rafale aircraft performed take-off and fly-past respectively.
Three Sukhoi fighter planes fly-past in front of the stage and completed the touch and go drill. After this, three Rafale aircraft demonstrated a similar formation drill.
In view of future challenges like a possible two-front war, the Indian Air Force is strengthening its preparations. Emergency landing facilities are being prepared on highways in various parts of the country, so that fighter and transport aircraft can use alternative runways if needed.
This project has been completed with the joint effort of the Central Government, Ministry of Road Transport and Indian Air Force. This inaugural event not only conveyed the message of strategic strength in the Northeast, but also demonstrated India’s rapidly increasing military preparedness.
