A threat to blow up a bomb was written in lipstick in the toilet…the flight going from Dibrugarh to Kolkata made emergency landing
Kolkata : Saturday evening was full of tension for the Indian aviation sector. There was chaos at Kolkata’s Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport after receiving news of a bomb in IndiGo flight 6E6894 flying from Dibrugarh to Kolkata. A suspicious threatening message was found written in lipstick in the toilet of the plane. After this, the security agencies were immediately alerted and after landing the plane safely, an intensive search operation was started. There was panic due to this incident.
Suspicious message found in toilet
Airport Authority of India spokesperson Rajesh Kumar in Kolkata has officially confirmed this serious incident. He told that during the journey, when the plane was in the air, a suspicious message written in lipstick was found inside the toilet. In this message, there was a threat of a bomb in the plane. As soon as the crew members got information about this, they immediately informed the pilot and Kolkata ATC. Without wasting any time, the pilot started following emergency safety protocols for a safe landing of the aircraft.
Aircraft searched in isolation bay
This A-320 aircraft of Indigo landed safely at Kolkata airport at 7.37 pm. As soon as it landed, as per the safety protocol, the plane was immediately taken to the ‘isolation bay’ away from the main runway. Here the pre-prepared bomb disposal squad and security personnel took charge. All the passengers and their luggage were safely deboarded from the plane. The passengers had to face a lot of mental stress and inconvenience during this entire process.
Nothing was found in thorough investigation
After taking the plane to the isolation bay, the security officials carefully examined every corner. Security personnel conducted a thorough search of the seats, cabin and cargo area with the help of modern equipment and sniffer dogs. After this detailed investigation that lasted for several hours, the officials heaved a sigh of relief as no suspicious object or explosive was found inside the plane. Eventually it became clear that the message written in lipstick was just a fake threat or a scary prank.
There was a threat in the morning also
The entire day of Saturday was quite challenging for Kolkata Airport from security point of view. Even before this Dibrugarh plane, in the morning another plane going from Kolkata to Shillong had received a bomb threat. Even at that time, as per security protocol, the plane was immediately taken to the isolation bay and thoroughly searched, but nothing suspicious was found there either. Security agencies have now become very alert after receiving such threats against two planes in the same day.
No compromise on safety of passengers…
Aviation officials say that the safety of passengers cannot be compromised under any circumstances. Therefore, every small threat is taken very seriously. Police are now trying to identify the person who wrote that mischievous message in the toilet. For this, list of passengers and suspects can be interrogated. Such false threats not only put a burden on the security system but also create major disruption in flight operations.
