8th Pay Commission Updates: A big update related to the 8th Pay Commission has come out, which is considered important for central employees and pensioners. The NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the appointment of one more director in the Commission. The Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet (ACC) has appointed Indian Railway Accounts Service (IRAS, 2009 batch) officer Krishna VR as Director in the 8th Central Pay Commission on departmental deputation.
This appointment has been made through the Central Staffing Scheme under the Department of Expenditure of the Finance Ministry. It is believed that this will speed up the process of salary and pension revision.

When will the commission’s recommendations come out?

The third important information was given in the Parliament by Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary. He said that the notification for the formation of the 8th Pay Commission was issued on 3 November 2025 and the commission has been given 18 months time to prepare its report. According to the prescribed deadline, the recommendations of the commission may come by 2027. However, if the recommendations are implemented, the arrears are likely to be paid from January 1, 2026.
