Cancer prevention and early detection is the mantra of victory: CM Fadnavis
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday said that in the fight against cancer, special emphasis should be laid on prevention and early diagnosis along with treatment. He said that this disease not only demands treatment but early caution and quick detection is also necessary.
Speaking at the inauguration of the ‘Oncology Beyond Borders’ global conference organized by the National Cancer Institute, Fadnavis referred to the huge surge in cancer cases in the last ten years. This has become the biggest challenge for the health system.
He said that India has come a long way in the health sector, but cancer is still a matter of concern at the national and international level. No disease knows borders or economic status, so we have to come together and find solutions.
Fadnavis described such conferences as strong platforms for collaboration and innovation in cancer care. Centers like National Cancer Institute are providing advanced treatments, which are benefiting patients not only in India but also in other countries.
Referring to the Maha Cancer Foundation in Maharashtra, he talked about a statewide network based on a hub-and-spoke model that would take quality treatment to all. The use of research, medical technology, biotech and AI will improve diagnostics and outcomes.
Early detection will increase survival rates and reduce the burden of cancer. This conference raises new hope against cancer.
