Gujarat’s 6th Vande Bharat To Connect Ahmedabad, Udaipur
Indian Railways is launching a new Vande Bharat Express service between Asarwa (Ahmedabad) and Udaipur Cityscheduled for inauguration on February 16, 2026. This will be Gujarat’s sixth Vande Bharat trainfurther expanding the semi-high-speed rail network in western India and enriching regional transport options. The train will begin regular operations from February 18.
Route Details and Travel Time
The new Vande Bharat Express will connect two popular destinations — Ahmedabad in Gujarat and Udaipur in Rajasthan — covering a distance of approximately 296 km. It is expected to complete the journey in about four hours and fifteen minutessignificantly cutting travel time compared with conventional trains on the route.
Features and Passenger Experience
Designed to offer a comfortable and efficient travel experience, the train will run with eight coachesincluding AC Chair Car and Executive Chair Car classes. Passengers will benefit from modern onboard facilities such as:
- Reclining and comfortable seats
- Mobile charging points
- Bio-toilets
- Automatic entry/exit doors
- CCTV surveillance
These features align with the standard amenities found on India’s Vande Bharat fleet, aimed at seamless and pleasant journeys.
Service Frequency and Schedule
The train will operate six days a weekexcluding Tuesdays. The inaugural special service — Train No. 09663 — will depart Udaipur City at around 12:25 pm on February 16 and reach Asarwa by about 5:15 pmhalting at intermediate stations such as Zawar, Dungarpur, and Himmatnagar. Regular daily services thereafter will follow a fixed timetable in both directions.
