Delhi Transport Department has issued a strict notice to control the increasing pollution in the capital, vehicles that have completed their life will be confiscated directly.

Delhi Transport Department has issued a strict public notice to curb the increasing pollution in the capital. The department has clearly said that now no such vehicle will be allowed to remain in the city, whose stipulated time limit has been completed. Even if he is walking on the road or standing somewhere. According to the notice, the process of seizing and removing vehicles that have crossed the prescribed age will be expedited. Officials say that old and polluting vehicles seriously affect the air quality of the capital, hence it is necessary to take strict steps against them.

According to the Delhi Transport Department, strict action will now be taken against vehicles that have crossed the stipulated time limit (EOV) without any prior notice. Such vehicles can be confiscated and sent directly to the scrap heap. According to the rules, diesel vehicles older than 10 years and petrol vehicles older than 15 years in Delhi come under the category of “End of Life Vehicles (EOV)”, that is, they are considered to have completed their useful life.

To avoid action, the department has advised such vehicle owners to take their vehicles out of the National Capital Region (NCR) or get them disposed of (scrap/deregistration) as per the prescribed rules. Officials say that this step is being taken to control the increasing air pollution in the capital and strict action will continue against those violating the rules.

In its public notice, it has clarified that all End-of-Life Vehicles (EOV) owners will have to get their vehicles transferred out of the National Capital Region after obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC). According to the notice, old vehicles with emission standards of BS-3 and below running or parked in public places of Delhi will be confiscated under the law without any prior notice and sent directly to the scrapyard. The department has said that such vehicles are a major source of pollution and have a serious impact on air quality. Officials have advised vehicle owners to get their vehicles shifted out of NCR by taking NOC as soon as possible to avoid action or get them scrapped through the legal process.

Delhi Transport Department officials said that a special campaign will soon be launched to remove end-of-life (EOV) vehicles. Its aim is to control the increasing air pollution in the capital and remove older, more polluting vehicles from the roads. There has been a demand for a long time that vehicles older than 15 years should not be allowed to ply on the roads. In this context, the department has adopted a strict stance and made it clear that now not only the running vehicles but also the old vehicles parked at public places can be confiscated and converted into scrap.
