Bayern Munich future-proofing with Dayot Upamecano, Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, Joshua Kimmich and many more!
Bayern Munich have enjoyed a good season so far on the pitch – and off it too. By committing the likes of Dayot Upamecano, Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies to the club on new long-term contracts in the past year, they hope to have cemented the pillars of future success in place, while also providing the space for exciting young talents to emerge.
The grins said it all – a beaming Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen, board member for sport Max Eberl and sporting director Christoph Freund posing with an overjoyed Upamecano as the 27-year-old signed a contract committing him to the club until 2030.
“His clear personal commitment is a strong message for our sporting course and for the good togetherness within the team and the club,” said Dreesen of the deal in February 2026.
It was the end of a long and much reported set of negotiations for the French defender, whose contract was set to expire at the end of the season but has now committed his future to the Bundesliga leaders.
Moreover, it continued a recent trend of key players deciding that Bayern is the best club for them going forward.
“Players like him allow us to send out a clear message to everyone that Bayern are to be reckoned with in the future,” Eberl had said 12 months earlier when Musiala also signed a new deal to stay in Munich until 2030.
Under his stewardship as the man overseeing the squad at Bayern, business has been more about securing the continued services of the best players already at the club, rather than spending big to bring in outside talent in building for the future.
That deal with Musiala was announced just days after Alphonso Davies, another key performer over recent years, also extended his Bayern papers until 2030. Those five-year terms match the length of the deal offered to 2024 summer signing Michael Olise, who arrived on a contract running until 2029.
The move to sign Olise already looks to have been one of the best deals in recent years by any club in Europe. The France international has 33 goals and approaching 50 assists in 89 competitive appearances, taking Bayern’s attack to new levels in regaining the Bundesliga title and now pushing for even more in 2025/26.

Not long after Davies and Musiala, Bayern tied down the fulcrum of their team in Kimmich, who is set to inherit the armband off Manuel Neuer once he finally hangs up his gloves, through to 2029.
He, summer 2025 signings Jonathan Tah, Luis Díaz and Tom Bischof all have deals running until the same year. Homegrown duo Josip Stanišić and Aleksandar Pavlović are also committed for the next three-and-a-bit seasons.
Jonas Urbig is another youngster locked in until 2029, seen as the long-term successor to Neuer in goal. Alexander Nübel, currently on loan at VfB Stuttgart, also has the same contract length.

The start of February 2026 brought another contract extension, although slightly shorter than recent deals, as Serge Gnabry signed on for two more years.
Although facing competition in the final third from Díaz, Olise, Musiala and now Lennart Karl, the 30-year-old Germany international is seen as a vital cog in the team and squad as a whole.
Both Eberl and Freund highlighted his role in the changing room, seeing him as the glue between different groups and helping create the harmonious environment that has shaped their success under Kompany.

While the club have expressed their calm regarding the future of Neuer as he prepares to turn 40 in March, Harry Kane is seen as one of the next big deals to focus on.
“We’re talking to Harry, we’re talking,” Eberl said at a DFL event in Frankfurt at the end of January. “Everyone knows at some point a decision has to be made.”
The striker, who has sent records tumbling since his 2024 arrival in Munich, is under contract until 2027, by which time he will be 33.

The board member for sport and sporting director have also had to move players on, though. Leon Goretzka, for example, won’t have his contract renewed and will leave in the summer after eight years at the Allianz Arena.
The same fate befell Thomas Müller the previous summer as Bayern looked to start shaping their future and ensure they never get left behind.
