One Nation One Ration Card Scheme: Now ration will be available anywhere in the country

It is an important responsibility of the government to ensure food security for poor and needy families. Earlier, ration card holders used to get food grains only from the designated shop in their area. But this system was difficult for laborers and daily wage workers going to other states for work.

To solve this problem, the government started One Nation One Ration Card scheme. Under this scheme, now ration card holders can take food grains from the government ration shop in any state or union territory of the country.

How does the scheme work?

Under this scheme, ration card has been linked to Aadhar number and the data of all the states has been integrated on the digital platform. E-POS machines have been installed in ration shops, where beneficiaries verify their identity through biometric checks.

As soon as the identity is confirmed, the system tells how much ration the person is to get and how much has already been taken.

Main benefits of the scheme

  • Portability of ration across the country
  • Big relief to migrant laborers
  • Ban on fake ration cards
  • Transparency in delivery system

Who will get the benefit?

All ration card holders eligible under the National Food Security Act 2013 can avail the benefits of this scheme.

Keep in mind that it is mandatory for the ration card to be linked to Aadhaar.

Process of making ration card

Both online and offline methods are available. Application can be made on the website of the State Food and Supplies Department or the form can be submitted at the nearest office.

One Nation One Ration Card Scheme has solved the big problem of migrant laborers and poor families. Digital systems and Aadhaar linking have increased transparency and ensured that government assistance reaches the right people.

This scheme is an important step towards strengthening the food security of the country.
