India’s pace spearhead Arshdeep Singh stole the spotlight during the T20 World Cup 2026 clash against Namibia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Thursday, February 12.
After dismissing opener Jan Frylinck with a deceptive slower ball, Arshdeep broke into Cristiano Ronaldo’s Iconic “Siu” celebration, a moment that quickly went viral across social media.
The wicket was a major milestone for the 27-year-old, marking his 250th career wicket in T20 cricket. While the crowd erupted in cheers, the celebration led to some lighthearted banter in the locker room.
In a post-match video shared by the BCCI, Arshdeep admitted the tribute was actually for his teammate Mohammed Siraj, saying, “I have never seen CR7. After watching Siraj bhai, I thought let’s try it once and see how it goes.”
Siraj, a known Ronaldo superfan, gave the attempt a “10 out of 10” rating but jokingly pointed out that Arshdeep “jumped too high,” causing him to nearly lose his balance on the landing.
Arshdeep laughed off the critique, noting, “In the excitement, I jumped a bit too much. So I couldn’t maintain my balance and I almost stumbled.”
The viral moment capped off a clinical performance for India, who secured a 93-run victory after posting 209/9. The win solidifies India’s position at the top of Group A as the tournament intensifies.
