India A beats Pakistan A by 8 wickets to win Women’s Asia Cup
New Delhi: Indian Women’s A team defeated Pakistan Women’s A team by 8 wickets in the Group A match of Women’s Asia Cup Rising Stars Tournament held at Bangkok Stadium on Sunday. Team India performed excellently in both bowling and batting. First Pakistan team was bundled out for 93 runs in 18.5 overs and then India achieved the target by losing only 2 wickets in 10.1 overs.
Pakistan’s batting performance
After winning the toss and batting first, Pakistan scored 93 runs in 18.5 overs. Wickets fell quickly in Pakistani batting. Only Shawal Zulfikar, Gul Rukh and Anusha Nasir could reach double figures. Shawal Zulfikar scored 23 runs in 29 balls with the help of three fours, while Gul Rukh scored 21 runs in 28 balls with the help of one six and one four. Anusha Nasir scored 17 runs at a strike rate of 100, which included two fours. Captain Radha Yadav, Prema Rawat and Saima Thakor took two wickets each for India. Jintimani Kalita and Minnu Mani took one wicket each.
Initial difficulties in run chase
India A team made a poor start in the run chase against Pakistan A. Humaira Kazi’s wicket fell on the first ball of the innings, which was caught by Neha Sharma. After this, Vrinda Dinesh and Anushka Sharma made a partnership of 79 runs for the second wicket and took the team closer to victory. Anushka scored 24 runs in 26 balls, which included four fours, before being dismissed by Momina Riyasat. Meanwhile, opener Vrinda Dinesh scored unbeaten 55 runs in just 29 balls, which included 12 fours. Tejal Hasbanis also scored 12 not out.
