Dhurandhar Becomes Longest-Trending Indian Film Ever, Surpasses Chhaava, Pushpa 2: The Rule and Jawan
The box office juggernaut Dhurandhar has added another milestone to its historic run. The spy thriller, directed by Aditya Dhar and headlined by Ranveer Singhhas officially become the longest-trending Indian film on BookMyShow.
According to trade estimates, the film has trended on the ticketing platform for 59 consecutive days, surpassing the previous all-time record of 58 days set by Chhaava earlier this year.
Dhurandhar Sets New Benchmark on BookMyShow
Industry tracker Sacnilk reported that by mid-February, Dhurandhar had broken the platform’s longevity record. The film’s sustained performance reflects strong audience word of mouth and repeat viewership across metros and tier-two cities.
BookMyShow trends have increasingly emerged as a key metric to assess a film’s popularity and theatrical longevity, with industry estimates suggesting that nearly half of total ticket sales for major releases are driven through the platform.
Word of Mouth Drives Historic Box Office Run
Released over two months ago, Dhurandhar has maintained its position at the top of the Indian box office for multiple weeks. The film has grossed approximately ₹1300 crore worldwide, including over ₹800 crore in India — the highest domestic total for a Hindi film to date.
It also recorded the biggest second week in Indian cinema history, collecting ₹253 crore, followed by strong third, fourth and fifth-week performances. Even after its OTT debut eight weeks post theatrical release, the film reportedly continued earning ₹25–30 lakh per day domestically.
Outperforming Recent Blockbusters
With its 59-day streak, Dhurandhar overtook Chhaava, which held the previous record at 58 days. Other major films that have featured among the longest-trending titles include Pushpa 2: The Rule, Jawan, and Stree 2.
Trade analysts attribute this sustained performance to compelling storytelling, large-scale action sequences, and strong audience engagement across demographics.
Star-Studded Cast and Sequel Announcement
Apart from Ranveer Singh, the film features Akshay Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal and Sanjay Dutt in pivotal roles.
Given its massive success, a sequel titled Dhurandhar: The Revenge is scheduled for release on March 19, with the principal cast reprising their roles. The announcement has further amplified excitement among audiences nationwide.
With its record-breaking theatrical run and sustained digital traction, Dhurandhar has set a new benchmark for commercial Hindi cinema in 2026.
