After the puja at Omkareshwar temple in Ukhimath on the occasion of Mahashivratri, the date of opening the doors of Kedarnath temple was decided in the presence of Rawal Jagadguru Bhimashankar Linga of the temple. The doors of Kedarnath Dham in Uttarakhand will open on the morning of 22 April 2026. On April 19, the Chal Utsav Dol of Lord Kedarnath will leave for Phata from Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath. After night halt at Gaurikund on 20th April, the doli will reach Kedarnath temple on 21st April.

A day after the opening of the doors of Kedarnath Dham, on April 23, the doors of Badrinath Dham temple, another famous pilgrimage of Chardham Yatra, will be opened at 6.15 am. At the same time, before this, on the festival of Akshaya Tritiya on April 19, the doors of two more pilgrimage sites of Chardham Yatra, Gangotri and Yamunotri temples, will also open. The temple committee will decide the time for opening the doors of Gangotri and Yamunotri temples later. In the famous Chardham Yatra of Uttarakhand, first the devotees offer prayers at Gangotri and Yamunotri temples. After which the devotees worship Kedarnath and then Lord Badri Vishal. Many devotees go just to have darshan of Lord Kedarnath and Lord Badrinath. There is a provision to visit Kedarnath first and then Badrinath.

In the year 2025, 51 lakh devotees had visited Chardham Yatra. Whereas, in 2024, 4.35 devotees had reached Uttarakhand on Chardham Yatra. Now passengers are registered for Chardham Yatra. Registration of devotees for Chardham Yatra is done through online and offline methods. This time the administration has completely banned making social media reels in Kedarnath and Badrinath temples. Many times in the past, controversies had arisen due to making of reels in Kedarnath and Badrinath. The administration is going to make arrangements to keep mobile phones and cameras in all the temples. There is already a ban on photography and videography inside all the temples during the Chardham Yatra.
