Foreign fans are gathering in Bengal’s ‘Navakailas’, come and visit to know Mahatma
Have a few days off? Planning to visit a nearby shrine? You can go to Kalna 108 Shiv Mandir. Which is known as Navakailas. Year after year, tourists from home and abroad come to visit this temple, drawn by this black and white Shiva. Recently 22 tourists from Spain came to this Navakailas wrapped in tradition. They are impressed by the temple. Come visit too.
108 Shiv Mandirs in Burdwan and Kalna are very famous all over the country. Maharaj Tejachandra Bahadur built this temple in Kalna in 1809. These 108 temples are collectively called ‘Navakailas’. The craftsmanship and architecture of the temple is eye-catching. Which attracts tourists again and again. There are 74 Shiva temples in the outer part of the two circles and 34 in the inner part. Temples have white and black Shiva Lingas. Every year on Shivratri, thousands of devotees pour water on Shiva’s head in this temple. According to municipal sources, the temple area is being decorated with seven colored lights. On special days of the year, the surroundings will be illuminated with tricolor lights. About 1 crore rupees have been spent on this work, said Deputy Mayor Tapan Pordel. Spanish tourists recently visited the temple.

Guide Adrija Bandyopadhyay said, “Spanish tourists have expressed great interest in the architecture of the temple and the variety of white and black Shiv Lingas. In English, they have been interpreted. The white Shiva is a symbol of goodness and peace, and the black Shiva is a symbol of spiritual power.”
