India will lead the world of AI! Altman, the creator of ChatGPT, claims Trump’s eye-catching
India has the potential to lead the world in artificial intelligence or AI technology. Sam Altman, the head of OpenAI, is like that. According to the creator of ChatGPT, the rate at which AI technology is being used in India is increasing day by day, it is also being considered to expand the business in this country. Sam said there may even be a walk in the partnership.
Incidentally, OpenAI had recently come under fire from US President Donald Trump’s administration. In the midst of the dispute over the tariff war and trade agreement with India, White House trade adviser Peter Navarro alleged that ChatGPT was providing AI services to countries like India and China at the expense of American taxpayers. In an interview with former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, Navarro said, “India will use AI, and why should American citizens pay for it? ChatGPT is operating from American soil. Using American electricity. And serving India, China and the rest of the world.”
However, tensions between India and the US have eased recently. The Trump administration has reduced tariffs on Indian goods. Apart from this, trade agreements have also been made between the two countries. But in spite of this, many people feel that Sam’s comments praising India after the US administration’s warning is significant.
The ‘Global AI Impact Summit 2026’ is starting from Monday at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Coming to join the conference, Sam said that India is second only to America in terms of the number of users of OpenAI. ChatGPT currently has 100 million active users in India. Not only that, Indians have the largest number of students using ChatGPT worldwide. ChatGPT also has tools that can help with scientific research. Its name is ‘Prism’. India ranks fourth in the world in the use of these AI tools.
OpenAI opened a new office in New Delhi last year. At least 200 officials from various non-profit organizations in four major Indian cities have also been trained in the use of AI technology, Sam said. This time, the leader of OpenAI has indicated that he will walk the path of agreement with the government on AI technology.
