BLA’s claim in Balochistan. 7 Held for Prisoner Swap
A big claim has come out from the troubled Balochistan province of Pakistan. Banned organization Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) said on Sunday that it has captured 17 Pakistani soldiers. The organization says that 10 of these have been released, while the Pakistan government has been given a week’s time to exchange the prisoners for the remaining seven.
It is being told that this action is part of the second phase of their alleged campaign “Operation Herof”. In a statement issued in the name of the spokesperson of BLA’s media wing ‘Hakkal’, Jiyand Baloch, it has been described as a “strategic step”. However, no official reaction has come yet from the Pakistan government or the army.
What is BLA’s claim?
According to the statement, 10 out of 17 soldiers were released. The organization said that all of them were ethnically Baloch and were associated with the local police system. They have been warned and asked to leave. The organization says that this decision was taken keeping in mind the ground situation and the interest of the Baloch people.
What are the charges against the remaining 7 soldiers?
According to BLA, the remaining seven people are associated with regular units of Pakistan Army. The organization said that ‘the remaining detained people are members of regular units of the Pakistan Army. A Baloch National Court convened, where the detainees were charged with involvement in actions against civilians, aiding and abetting enforced disappearances, and participation in the genocide of the Baloch people. During the hearing, these people were given an opportunity to respond to the allegations, evidence was presented and statements were recorded, after which the verdict of guilty was pronounced. The organization claims that he was found guilty after a hearing in a so-called ‘Baloch National Court’.
What was said on prisoner exchange?
Although BLA has said that the accused will be held guilty, it has also given seven days time to the Pakistan government. The organization says that if during this time the government is ready for the exchange of prisoners, then these seven people can be released in exchange of Baloch prisoners. BLA also alleged that the Pakistan government did not take any concrete action on the proposals given earlier. The statement warned that if no concrete progress was made within a week, the alleged punishment would be implemented.
What is the government’s response?
At present, no official statement has come from Pakistan’s army or government on this matter. Experts say that if this claim is true, it may increase the security situation and tension in the area.
