Nick Jonas on fatherhood, privacy and purpose
Singer and actor Nick Jonas recently opened up about how becoming a father has transformed his music, priorities and understanding of purpose.
Speaking on The Zach Sang Show, Nick reflected on raising his daughter with wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas, sharing thoughtful insights into privacy, culture and parenting.
Choosing privacy over publicity
Nick made it clear that keeping their daughter out of the spotlight is a deliberate choice. He and Priyanka do not reveal her face on social media, believing childhood should remain private.
He explained that visibility will be her decision in the future. Until then, symbolic gestures stand in her place — such as the handprints featured on the album cover of Sunday Best, representing Nick, Priyanka and their daughter.
How fatherhood changed his music
Becoming a parent shifted Nick’s creative lens. He now writes songs imagining that his daughter may one day listen to them. The album includes a track titled Princesses, inspired by her imagination and curiosity.
Nick described being her father as “the role of a lifetime,” saying it influences both his art and his daily life.
Learning empathy through parenting
Parenthood, he shared, has taught him patience and empathy. Children ask simple yet profound questions — such as why glass is clear — prompting adults to slow down and reflect.
Nick admitted that these moments have softened him, shaping how he approaches not just family life but also his work.
A multicultural, multi-faith home
Nick and Priyanka are raising their daughter in a home that blends cultures and faiths. He noted that Hindu values such as karma and kindness play an important role in their household, alongside his evolving faith.
Their aim, he said, is not strict labelling but creating meaning and respect across traditions.
Finding joy in ordinary moments
Nick also spoke about family time during a wildfire evacuation in Los Angeles, when they temporarily relocated to New York. Simple routines — park walks and shared meals — became deeply meaningful.
Watching his daughter embrace joy without fear has reminded him of his own childhood wonder. For Nick, fatherhood is not only about guidance, but about rediscovering gentleness and curiosity within himself.
