The Government of Thailand has made significant changes to visa regulations to promote tourism, strengthen the economy and ease the entry process for travelers. Under the new rules, passport holders from 93 countries and territories can now enter Thailand without a visa. They can stay for a maximum of 60 days for tourism, work or short-term business. Additionally, citizens of 31 countries can apply for a visa on arrival at an immigration checkpoint. The government is planning to add eight more countries to the list soon. This will relieve travelers from the hassle of applying for visas in advance.

Special visa for distance workers and students

Destination Thailand Visa has been launched for digital and online workers. This special category is for foreign nationals who wish to live and work remotely in Thailand. A non-immigrant ED Plus visa has also been introduced, allowing them to combine work with study or education. The government is reviewing rules for long-term visas, particularly for seniors planning to retire.

Reduced visa codes

The government has reduced the number of non-immigrant visa codes from 17 to 7, simplifying the process. As of 1 January 2025, e-visa applications are available through 94 Thai embassies and consulates worldwide. These changes are designed to ensure transparency and speedy processing for passengers.

Checkpoint relief with digital arrival card

Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TM.6 Online System) has been implemented. Passengers will now have to fill in their information online before entering, reducing long queues at airports and border posts.
