Colombo (Sri Lanka) In the 27th match of Group A of the T20 World Cup 2026, India once again defeated its arch-rival Pakistan. R. In this high-voltage match played at Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, India, batting first, scored 175 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Pakistan team was all out for 114 runs in 18 overs. It was a brilliant 61-run win for India, taking their record against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup to 8-1.
After winning the toss, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Aga chose to bowl first, but Indian opener Ishan Kishan changed the complexion of the match in the powerplay itself. Ishan played an explosive inning of 77 runs in just 40 balls, which included big sixes and fours. He broke many records against Pakistan by completing his half-century in 27 balls. His 87-run partnership with Tilak Verma gave India a strong foundation. Captain Suryakumar Yadav scored 32 runs (28 balls) and Shivam Dubey scored 27 runs (17 balls) taking the score to 175.
For Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Abrar Ahmed took some wickets, but they looked helpless in front of the aggressive style of Indian batsmen.
In reply, Pakistan had a very bad start while chasing the target. Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya destroyed the top order in the powerplay itself. Spinners Varun Chakraborty and Kuldeep Yadav laid the net in the middle overs. Varun pushed Pakistan on the backfoot by taking wickets in two consecutive balls. The entire Pakistan team was reduced to 114 runs. Shaheen Afridi scored 23 runs, but could not score any big score.
The Indian bowling performance was excellent – Hardik Pandya made important contributions, including the last wicket, while Bumrah, Axar Patel and Varun bowled economical spells. Ishan Kishan was adjudged man of the match for his explosive innings.
With this victory, India has become the first team from Group A to reach Super 8. Indian spinners showed their magic on the spin-friendly pitch of Colombo, while the batsmen maintained their aggression even on the challenging surface.
Pakistan now needs to bounce back in the next matches, but the Indian team is moving ahead with its strong form and teamwork. The match was emotional and prestigious for both the teams, but India proved its superiority by winning in a one-sided fashion.
