Ranbir Kapoor on breaking ‘glass wall’ with daughter
Actor Ranbir Kapoor has once again spoken candidly about fatherhood, sharing how he hopes to build a different relationship with his daughter Raha than the one he experienced with his late father, Rishi Kapoor.
During a recent interaction following his announcement as brand ambassador for a legacy jewellery brand, Ranbir reflected on generational differences in parenting.
Wanting friendship over distance
“My father’s relationship with me was a little distant; it was not like friendship. That’s how that generation was,” Ranbir said.
He added that with his three-year-old daughter, he hopes to “break that glass wall” and be a friend to her. “I want to give her the wings to fly in whichever direction she wants,” he shared.
The actor also addressed the weight of the Kapoor legacy, saying he never felt pressure but rather a sense of responsibility. He acknowledged that many talented artists struggle for opportunities, and he considers it important not to take his position for granted.
A special connection with Japan
Ranbir recently spoke about his personal bond with Japan ahead of the Japanese release of Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
He recalled his grandfather Raj Kapoor’s cultural resonance in Japan, especially through the iconic song “Mera Joota Hai Japani.” Ranbir also remembered exploring Tokyo during the shoot of Tamasha in 2015 and described it as one of his most memorable experiences.
“I have a three-year-old daughter now, and I cannot wait to bring her to see Japan,” he said.
Upcoming projects
On the professional front, Ranbir is gearing up for Love & War directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, alongside Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal.
He is also set to feature in Ramayana directed by Nitesh Tiwari, with Sai Pallavi and Yash.
For Ranbir, however, beyond the glitz of cinema, it is fatherhood that seems to be shaping his most meaningful role yet.
