On Sunday, on the holy festival of Mahashivratri, a wonderful confluence of devotion and reverence was seen in the Shiva temples of the district. With the first rays of dawn, there was a rush of Shiva devotees in the temples, which soon transformed into long queues. The entire area became filled with Shiva with the chants of Bam-Bam Bhole and Har-Har Mahadev. Thousands of devotees performed Jalabhishek at the iconic Baba Bhuteshwar Darbar of Obra Nagar, Dala Shiv Parvati Amar Dum-Dum Cave, and Gothani Somnath Temple, Chopan Kailash Temple. Along with this, devotees also prayed for happiness and prosperity in Narvdeeshwar Mahadev Temple, Shri Rameshwar Mahadev Temple, Kali Temple and Durga Temple.
The ancient Baba Shobhanath temple situated on the banks of Son river under Jugail police station area was a special center of faith. Thousands of devotees from every corner of the district came to visit this historical temple known as Gupt Kashi. After darshan and worship, the devotees enjoyed the fair with their families. Tasting the famous Gudahiya Jalebi of Gothani fair was the main center of attraction for the devotees. Seeing the huge crowd of devotees, Obra and Dala police were fully prepared. Police forces were deployed at every nook and corner so that there is no disruption in security and traffic system.

The police administration controlled the crowd in the fair area and temple premises in coordination with the temple committees. Police patrolling and teams of volunteers remained continuously active to keep an eye on suspicious activities. This festival of Mahashivratri not only became a symbol of religious faith, but the fairs organized at historical places like Gothani also set an example of social unity. The devotees appreciated the arrangements made by the temple committees for drinking water and queue management.
