In Uttar Pradesh, a pregnant woman was thrown out of the house in the cold and kicked in the stomach; Case registered
Police in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh have registered a case against a pregnant woman’s husband and in-laws for attacking her and trying to abort her. This incident is related to alleged harassment following repeated demands for dowry. Police gave this information on Sunday.
According to police, Taslima (30), who was two months pregnant, lodged the complaint. A case has been registered against her husband Riyaz Ahmed, father-in-law Mumtaz, mother-in-law Shakeela, brother-in-law Imteyaz and sister-in-law Sakreen Bano. The case was registered at Aurai police station on Saturday under sections 85 (cruelty), 115(2) (causing hurt) and 353(3) (public nuisance) of the Indian Judicial Code as well as the Dowry Prohibition Act.

Had asked for dowry and land
SHO Manoj Kumar of Aurai police station said that Taslima, living in Pipartar Kaithan Mohalla, was married to Riyaz Ahmed of Mirzapur in June 2022. Soon after the marriage, the husband and in-laws started demanding Rs 2 lakh in cash and a piece of land as dowry.
When Taslima refused and said that her parents’ financial condition was not good, she faced beatings and cruelty.

According to the complaint, at midnight on 22 December 2025, her husband and in-laws threw her out of the house in the cold. After the mediation of some relatives, the husband took her back on 2 February 2026, but when it was discovered that she was two months pregnant, the husband refused to accept her without cash and land.

Taslima alleged that three days later, on February 5, her husband and mother-in-law beat her badly. The brother-in-law kicked her on the stomach several times so that she would have a miscarriage. The husband tried to kill her by strangulating her, but hearing her scream the neighbors came.
Neighbors took him to the hospital
Neighbors took him to the hospital in injured condition and informed his parents. His father took him to Bhadohi and got him treated in a private hospital. Now his condition is stable.

Police registered a case on Saturday and raided the accused’s house at Tarkapur Pokhri, but all the accused were found absconding. The police is now trying to catch them.
