Big action by Election Commission, due to this these 7 officers of West Bengal were suspended

Taking major action, the Election Commission in West Bengal has suspended seven officials with immediate effect. These officers have been accused of serious negligence, wrongdoing and misuse of legal powers during election duty. The Commission has taken this action under Section 13CC of the RP Act 1950.

Instructions to Chief Secretary to initiate disciplinary action

The Election Commission has directed the Chief Secretary of the state to initiate disciplinary action against all these officers without any delay. The Commission has also said that the complete report of the action taken should be sent as soon as possible.

ECI suspends 7 West Bengal officials, directs Chief Secretary to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the officers. The action has been taken for “serious misconduct, dereliction of duty and misuse of statutory powers in connection with SIR.”

Names of suspended officers

Let us tell you that the officers who have been suspended are associated with different assembly constituencies. In these-

1. Dr. Sefaur Rahman from Samserganj in Murshidabad district

2. Nitish Das from Farakka

3. Dalia Ray Chaudhary from Maynaguri

4. SK Murshid Alam from Suti

5. Satyajit Das from Canning Purbo Assembly Constituency

6. Joydeep Kundu from Canning Purbo Assembly Constituency

7. Debashish Biswas from Debra Assembly Constituency

All these officers were working on the post of AERO i.e. Assistant Electoral Registration Officer and were handling important tasks related to elections.

Violation of rules will not be tolerated – Election Commission

The Election Commission has clearly said that any kind of negligence or violation of rules in the election process will not be tolerated. The Commission also made it clear that it is its primary responsibility to ensure fair and transparent elections. With this action, a message has been given that the election related officials will have to perform their duties with complete honesty and responsibility, otherwise strict action will be taken.
