IND vs PAK: Why did Pakistan lose against India in Colombo? Captain Salman told the reason

Delhi: In the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, India defeated arch-rival Pakistan by 61 runs and registered its third consecutive win in the tournament. In this group stage match, the performance of the Indian team was impressive in every department, while Pakistan was seen disintegrating under pressure.

The match was organized by R. of Colombo. It took place at Premadasa Stadium, where Pakistan won the toss and chose to bowl first. Indian batsmen did not get a chance to play completely freely, yet the team scored a competitive score of 175 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Pakistan team, which came to chase the target, was seen faltering from the very beginning and was reduced to 114 runs in 18 overs.

Pakistan could not recover from the setbacks in powerplay

After the match, Pakistani captain Salman Aga expressed disappointment over the defeat. He admitted that the team came under pressure due to continuous fall of wickets in the initial overs. According to him, after losing three-four wickets in the powerplay, the team could not make a comeback in the match and kept chasing the target throughout the match.

Even spin attack could not have any effect

Salman told that the team had fielded four spinners, but the performance did not go as planned. He admitted that the bowlers could not implement the strategy at the right time, of which the Indian batsmen took advantage. According to the captain, lack of control in bowling was clearly visible on some important occasions.

The pitch was better in the second innings, yet the batting failed

The Pakistani captain also said that batting was relatively easy in the second innings, but the batsmen could not take advantage of the conditions. In the first innings the ball was coming intermittently and batting was challenging, whereas later the pitch became better. Despite this the team could not perform as expected.

Pakistan’s final test in the race for Super-8

Despite this defeat, Pakistan’s hopes are not completely lost. The team now has to play its last group match against Namibia, winning which will be mandatory for it. At the same time, India has confirmed its place in the Super-8 with three consecutive wins and seems to be in great form.
