Indian team reached Super 8 after defeating Pakistan by 61 runs, Suryakumar praised the team
In the important match of Group A, India defeated Pakistan by 61 runs and secured a place in the Super Eight stage. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav said after the match that batting first on this pitch proved to be the right decision and the team scored 15-20 runs more than the competitive score.
Batting first, India scored 175 runs for seven wickets. On behalf of the team, Ishan Kishan played a brilliant inning of 77 runs in 40 balls with the help of 10 fours and three sixes. He made an important partnership of 87 runs for the second wicket with Tilak Verma (25 runs), which put India in a strong position.
Chasing the target of 176 runs, Pakistan team could not stand against the Indian bowlers and were reduced to 114 runs in 18 overs. The sharp bowling of Hardik Pandya (two wickets for 16 runs), Varun Chakraborty (two wickets for 17 runs), Jasprit Bumrah (two wickets for 17 runs) and Axar Patel (two wickets for 29 runs) wrapped up Pakistan’s innings.
After the match, Suryakumar said, “Even 155 runs would have been a competitive score on this pitch, but after reaching 175, we felt that we had taken the match under our control. At 155, it could have been a very close match.” He praised his batsmen and bowlers and said that the team played the cricket that he expected. Suryakumar praised Ishan’s responsible innings and said that after the first wicket fell at one run, someone needed to take responsibility and Ishan did an excellent job.
The captain further said that Tilak Verma, Shivam Dubey and Rinku Singh also made important contributions, while Hardik made an impact with the new ball and Bumrah proved why he is considered one of the best bowlers in the world. This spectacular victory of India has boosted the morale of the team and now its eyes are towards the title in the Super Eight stage.
